Semi Ajayi To Get More Playing Time Ahead Of 2025 Africa Cup Of Nations
Hull City manager Sergej Jakirović has revealed that Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi is set to feature more for the Championship side ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Ajayi was in action as Hull City suffered a 2-0 defeat to Ipswich Town on Tuesday, but Jakirović confirmed that the Nigerian international will see increased minutes before joining his national team.
“Semi will play even more now,” Jakirović told the Yorkshire Post. “He will play more because he is going to the Africa Cup of Nations on December 10. So I will try to spare (John) Egan because we don’t have so many centre-backs. We have Charlie (Hughes) and (Akin) Famewo.”
This is great news for the Super Eagles, who will rely on Ajayi’s experience and defensive prowess as they gear up for the continental tournament. Hull City fans can also look forward to seeing their star defender in action before he heads off to represent Nigeria.
