Kimmich Slams Arsenal’s Style After Bayern Loss, Points To Corners And Long Balls
Arsenal continued to flex their Champions League muscles with a stunning 3-1 win over Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium, ending the German side’s impressive 18-game unbeaten streak. The victory further cements the Gunners as one of the top contenders in Europe this season.
Joshua Kimmich, speaking after the match, was candid about Bayern’s struggles. The German international admitted that Arsenal’s “sheer number” of corners proved too much to handle and suggested that the London side’s style was not about fancy football, but about intensity, pressing, and tactical set-piece execution.
“It was definitely a deserved defeat. We weren’t brave enough, active enough, or physically up to par. It was clear it would be a lot about fighting, lots of long balls. Arsenal then naturally made every ball dangerous,” Kimmich said. He also compared Arsenal to PSG and Chelsea, saying, “PSG was our most difficult opponent… Arsenal is completely different. They rely a lot on set pieces. Against Paris, it was more of a football match.”
Arsenal, under Mikel Arteta, showcased a combination of tactical discipline, pressing, and set-piece mastery. Jurrien Timber opened the scoring for the Gunners, Lennart Karl equalized, but it was Noni Madueke and Gabriel Martinelli who sealed the victory in the second half. The match highlighted Arteta’s ability to extract individual brilliance while maintaining collective control.
Arteta himself praised his team, emphasizing determination, belief, and individual performances. He also highlighted the impact of substitutes, showing the squad’s depth despite injuries, saying, “Everybody’s raising the level… everybody’s important. We’re gonna need them, and I’m happy the ones given the chance are constantly taking it.”
This result makes Arsenal the only team with a perfect record in the Champions League so far and adds to the excitement surrounding their European campaign. For sports fans, it’s clear: the Gunners are not just competing—they’re asserting dominance.
