Rio Ferdinand Names Arsenal’s Most Underrated Star Ahead Of Bayern Clash
As Arsenal gear up for a massive UEFA Champions League night against Bayern Munich, one player is suddenly in the spotlight—not because he’s loud, flashy, or controversial, but because Rio Ferdinand says he deserves far more respect than he gets.
And that man is Leandro Trossard.
The former Manchester United defender, speaking on his YouTube show Rio Ferdinand Presents, didn’t mince words about the Belgian forward’s impact at Arsenal. His comments came right after the Gunners’ emphatic 4–1 demolition of Tottenham, a match where Trossard broke the deadlock before Eberechi Eze stole headlines with a hat-trick.
“Trossard Has Been Ridiculous” — Ferdinand
Rio couldn’t hide his admiration as he broke down the numbers and the influence the 30-year-old has had since joining from Brighton in January 2023.
“Trossard has been ridiculous. He doesn’t get the love he deserves from the Arsenal fans.”
He went on to highlight a stat that even many Arsenal supporters might have overlooked:
“His goal contributions since he signed… only Saka has got more. And they’re important goals—equalisers, late winners—it’s been a joke.”
When you look at the numbers, Rio has a point. Trossard has 33 goals and 28 assists in 139 games, contributing consistently whether he starts or comes off the bench. He’s become the definition of a clutch player—reliable, creative, and always ready to make something happen.
A Silent Game-Changer For Arteta
Mikel Arteta has repeatedly praised Trossard’s intelligence and versatility. Whether he’s playing as a winger, a false nine, or a left-sided playmaker, he finds a way to deliver. And with Bayern Munich coming to town, Arsenal will need exactly that sort of calm, clinical presence.
For all the noise around big names, Trossard remains the quiet assassin—no drama, just output.
All Eyes On The Emirates
As Bayern arrive at the Emirates for what promises to be a heavyweight Champions League clash, Arteta will be counting on his Belgian gem to show up once again.
If Arsenal are going to make a deep run in Europe this season, Trossard might just be one of the biggest reasons why.
