Antoine Semenyo Sends Premier League Giants On Alert As Release Clause Emerges
Antoine Semenyo has been one of the Premier League’s most electric performers, and now his future might be the biggest storyline of the upcoming transfer window. A new report has revealed that the Bournemouth winger has a surprisingly reasonable release clause in his contract — a revelation that has put top clubs on high alert.
Manchester United and Tottenham have admired Semenyo for months, quietly monitoring his rise as one of the most dangerous wide attackers in English football. Bournemouth, meanwhile, had already lost important players in recent windows, but held firm on keeping the Ghanaian international. They rewarded him with a contract extension that runs until 2030, a move many assumed would lock him down for years.
But the twist came today. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Semenyo’s long-term contract includes a £65 million release clause — a figure actually lower than the £70 million price tag Bournemouth slapped on him last summer. While still significant, the clause makes him far more attainable than many believed.
There is, however, a catch. The clause is time-sensitive, meaning interested clubs must trigger it early in January. This gives Bournemouth enough time to source a replacement, a smart move from a club refusing to be caught unprepared in the fast-paced dynamics of the Premier League sports market.
It’s easy to see why suitors are circling. Semenyo has been electric this season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in just eleven Premier League starts. He has become the heartbeat of Andoni Iraola’s attack, powering Bournemouth to a vibrant and confident start to the campaign.
The Cherries remain hopeful they can convince him to stay beyond January, especially with the club performing well and Semenyo thriving under the new system. But the report adds another wrinkle: if he stays until the end of the season, the release clause becomes active again — at an even cheaper fee.
This development puts Premier League giants in a delicate position. Act fast now and pay £65 million, or wait until summer and risk even more competition for the in-form winger at a lower price.
Either way, Antoine Semenyo has officially become one of the hottest names in the transfer market — and the sports industry is watching closely.
