Cristiano Ronaldo celebrating a goal for Portugal in a national team match.
Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that the 2026 World Cup could mark the end of his illustrious international career with Portugal.
The Al-Nassr forward, who has scored over 950 goals for club and country since debuting as a teenager for Sporting Lisbon in 2002, confirmed in an interview that he plans to retire from international football to spend more time with his family.
“Definitely yes,” Ronaldo said when asked if the 2026 World Cup would be his last.
He added, “I’ll be 41, and I think that will be the moment. I gave everything for football. I’ve been in the game for the last 25 years. I did everything. I have many records in the different scenarios in the clubs and also in the national teams. I’m really proud. So let’s enjoy the moment, live the moment.”
Ronaldo’s career spans more than two decades, during which he has achieved countless records and accolades, making him one of the greatest players in football history. While the 2026 World Cup may mark the end of his international journey, he continues to shine at club level with Al-Nassr.
Fans around the world will be watching closely as Ronaldo potentially bids farewell to the international stage, adding another chapter to his extraordinary career.
