Victor Boniface Defends His Social Media Posts: “We’re Footballers, Not Robots”

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has made it clear that his social media posts are all fun and games — not trouble. The 23-year-old Werder Bremen forward, who’s known for his humorous posts, memes, and random captions, recently defended his online behavior after critics accused him of being “too unserious” for a professional footballer.

Boniface, who joined Werder Bremen this summer following a failed transfer to AC Milan, has been under heavy scrutiny — both for his form on the pitch and his activity online. But he isn’t losing sleep over it.

In a press conference clip shared by sports journalist Oma Akatugba, Boniface confidently addressed the issue, saying people are reading too much into what are just harmless jokes.

“Like I said, the media can put whatever they want to put; it’s on them. My post, my caption — it doesn’t mean anything,” Boniface said.
“If I come online and insult somebody, that’s different. But when I make a funny post, I’m just being myself. We’re footballers, not robots.”

He went on to explain that his posts have been that way since his early playing days in Norway, and fans shouldn’t expect him to change anytime soon.

“I’ve been making these kinds of posts since Norway. I didn’t insult anybody,” he continued. “If I post something on my story, that’s me having fun. You can’t tell me how to use my page.”

Boniface’s words have sparked conversations among fans about the balance between professionalism and personality in modern sports. While some believe players should maintain a polished public image, others argue that showing personality helps humanize athletes.

At Sports Market International, we celebrate athletes like Boniface who bring humor, energy, and authenticity to the game. Because at the end of the day — sports are about passion, personality, and people.
