Victor Boniface Admits Struggles With Super Eagles But Insists He’s A Good Player

Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface has opened up about his challenging run with the national team, admitting that while things haven’t gone as planned, he still believes in his quality and remains proud to wear the green and white jersey.

The 24-year-old striker, who is currently on loan at Werder Bremen from Bayer Leverkusen, has featured 13 times for the three-time African champions but is yet to find the back of the net.

Speaking to Oma Sports, Boniface reflected honestly on his performances and the pressure that comes with representing Nigeria.

“I have been unlucky with the national team in terms of scoring goals, even though there were a couple of games I was not good,” Boniface said.

Despite the frustrations, the forward remains thankful for the opportunity to play for his country — something he describes as a lifelong dream come true.

“My biggest dream as a football player was to represent my country and I achieved this, and I am grateful for it,” he added.
“Because it has not worked good for me with the national team does not mean I am a bad player.”

Boniface’s journey with the Super Eagles has seen flashes of promise, but his goal drought has drawn mixed reactions from fans. Nevertheless, his determination and humility have earned him respect among supporters who believe he still has much to offer.

As Nigeria prepares for a crucial period in World Cup playoff qualifiers and AFCON 2025 preparations, Boniface will be eager to rediscover his scoring touch and justify his reputation as one of Nigeria’s brightest attacking talents.
