John Mikel Obi Compares Moise Caicedo To Chelsea Legend N’Golo Kante
Super Eagles legend John Mikel Obi has weighed in on Chelsea’s latest midfield powerhouse, Moise Caicedo, drawing comparisons to none other than Blues icon N’Golo Kante.
Since arriving from Brighton for a massive fee, Caicedo has quickly proven himself to be a key figure for Chelsea. The Colombian international has already made his mark, most recently helping his side seal a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the Premier League.
His stunning first-half strike from outside the box set the tone for the match before Willian Estevao added the finishing touch in injury time.
Mikel On Caicedo vs. Kante
Speaking on the Obi One Podcast, Mikel acknowledged the tricky nature of comparing the two midfield maestros:
“Same breath as Kante? N’Golo was a different animal,” he said. “I love both of them. N’Golo was just too quick, too good, could get his way out of any situation because he was too fast and he can run all day and night, but Caicedo can do that as well. I think both are pretty much equal. If I had to choose, it’s a tough pick.”
Caicedo’s Early Impact At Chelsea
Caicedo has been a revelation since joining the Blues. With three goals in his first seven league games, he has already surpassed his previous scoring tally at Stamford Bridge. His blend of defensive solidity, tireless running, and newfound attacking flair has many fans believing Chelsea may have finally found the perfect successor to Kante.
What’s Next For Chelsea?
The Blues will be eager to build on their momentum after the international break, with Nottingham Forest up next. If Caicedo continues his current form, Chelsea fans may start to view him in the same legendary light as Kante — a player who redefined midfield dominance at the club.
