Norway U-20 head coach Bjorn Johansen has admitted that preparing to face Nigeria’s Flying Eagles has been no easy task. The two nations open their FIFA U-20 World Cup 2025 campaigns today, with Group F action set to kick off at the Estadio Fiscal in Talca, Chile.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Johansen confessed that the Flying Eagles have proven a puzzle for his technical team. “Nigeria is perhaps the team that has been the most difficult to analyse. They are very unpredictable,” he told the Norway Football Association’s official website.
The coach highlighted Nigeria’s trademark qualities of speed, physicality, and relentlessness. “We know that it will be physical and that it will be hard to compete in the duels, and that they have a high tempo in their team,” Johansen explained.
Despite Nigeria’s unpredictability, Johansen is confident that his team has prepared for multiple scenarios. “If we can control phases and play more on our terms, the chance of us coming out on top increases,” he said. “We are prepared for different scenarios and will have enough preparedness to handle what is coming.”
For Nigeria, the Flying Eagles enter the tournament with high expectations and a reputation as one of Africa’s most dangerous youth teams. Their unpredictability could be their greatest weapon, leaving opponents guessing about how they’ll set up and strike.
The match promises to be a fascinating showdown between a tactically organized Norway side and a dynamic Nigerian team eager to stamp their authority early in the competition.
