Lazio have confirmed that Fisayo Dele-Bashiru sustained a lesion to the femoral bicep in his right leg during their heated Serie A clash with AS Roma, reports Completesports.com.
The 24-year-old midfielder was forced off the pitch early in the derby, which Lazio went on to lose 1-0.
In an official statement, Lazio explained that Dele-Bashiru has already begun rehabilitation and will undergo conservative treatment. However, the club did not disclose the grade of the lesion or provide a recovery timeline, leaving fans uncertain about how long he will be sidelined.
Since joining Lazio, Dele-Bashiru has made four Serie A appearances under Maurizio Sarri this season, gradually cementing his place in the squad. His absence now comes as a blow, especially after showing promising form in the Italian top flight.
The injury also raises concerns for Nigeria ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The Super Eagles are set to face Lesotho and Benin Republic next month, and head coach Eric Chelle is expected to announce his squad soon. Dele-Bashiru’s fitness will be closely monitored as Nigeria look to start their qualifying campaign on a strong note.
