Nasarawa United Succumb To A Narrow Defeat On NPFL Matchday One
In a tightly contested North Central derby match, Nasarawa United fell to a 1-0 defeat to Niger Tornadoes on the road in both teams’ 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season’s opener on Wednesday at the Kwara State Sports Stadium, Ilorin.
Despite a series of promising scoring opportunities, Nasarawa United’s efforts ultimately fell short.
The hosts’ lone goal courtesy of former Solid Miners’ attacker, Terdoo Shimagande, in the 24th minute, proved decisive, as he capitalized on a momentary lapse in defence to secure the win for his new club.
Nasarawa United created numerous chances, including misses from Ugochukwu Leonard, Abubakar Abdullahi, Umar Adah, and Salomon Chigoziem, as the ball refused to find the back of the net, as Tornadoes bravely held on to the slim scoreline to win the bragging rights.
United will look to regroup and refine their strategy, aiming to bounce back stronger in their next match against Abia Warriors at home on Sunday, 31st August, 2025.
