Sugawara Reportedly Set To Join Werder Bremen

SAINTS defender Yukinari Sugawara is reportedly set to join Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, moving on a potential loan basis.

Sugawara, 25, was not a part of Saturday’s matchday squad that were beaten 2-1 by Stoke City, and has fallen out of favour at St Mary’s.

Manager Will Still later revealed that the Japan international has been told by the Blue Samurai’s boss to join a top-five European division club.

German outlet Deich Stube have reported that Sugawara is already in Bremen to complete a medical ahead of sealing a likely loan move.

The right-back has made 35 appearances for Saints since joining from AZ Alkmaar last summer on a deal worth around £6million.

Saints have signed Sugawara’s replacement ahead of time, agreeing a four-year deal with Mads Roerslev, who made his debut against Stoke.
