Money Isn’t His Top Priority — Bayern Legend Backs Harry Kane To Stay And Extend Contract

Lothar Matthäus is convinced that Harry Kane will remain at Bayern Munich — insisting that money is not the striker’s main motivation as speculation swirls around his future.

The England captain has been linked with potential moves due to release clauses in his current contract, but Bayern remain relaxed and confident that fresh terms will be agreed.

Settled In Munich With Family And Form

Matthäus believes Kane’s happiness off the pitch is just as important as his prolific output on it.

“I don’t believe he’ll leave Bayern. Money isn’t his top priority; it’s feeling comfortable – with the coaches, his team-mates, and his family,” Matthäus told Sky Sports Deutschland.

The 32-year-old moved to Germany with wife Kate and their four children and has quickly adapted to life in Munich. His performances reflect that comfort — with elite scoring levels maintained since his arrival from Tottenham.

Saudi And MLS Links Downplayed

Kane has been linked with moves to the Saudi Pro League — where players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema have secured massive salaries — as well as a possible MLS switch to join Lionel Messi.

But Matthäus insists financial temptation alone will not sway him:

“In Saudi Arabia, he’d probably earn three or four times as much. I’m convinced that Harry Kane will extend his contract with FC Bayern.”

Bayern Planning Contract Talks

Kane’s current deal runs until 2027, and Bayern director Christoph Freund has confirmed that discussions over an extension are expected.

“He feels extremely comfortable here… Then he can stay in Munich for a long time,” Freund said.

The Bundesliga champions see Kane as the centerpiece of their sporting project — both for goals and leadership.

Lewandowski Record In Sight

Beyond contracts, Kane is chasing history. He currently has 26 Bundesliga goals this season, putting him on course to challenge Robert Lewandowski’s single-season record of 41.

Matthäus believes the milestone is achievable:

“I believe Harry Kane will break the record… Harry Kane is simply incredible and a real asset.”

Kane recently surpassed 500 career goals, becoming the first English player to reach the landmark — and admitted Lewandowski’s record is firmly in his thoughts:

“Anything is possible… it’s an incredible record.”

For now, all signs point to Kane’s Bayern chapter continuing — driven less by money and more by stability, success, and legacy.
