Lukaku Breaks Silence After Serious Injury
Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku insists he’s always ‘positive-minded’ and thanks ‘everyone’ for the support after sustaining a high-grade thigh injury.
Napoli star Lukaku breaks the silence on social media a few days after sustaining a serious thigh injury that will force him to the sidelines for several weeks.
Lukaku’s social media message after injury
“Thank you, everyone, for the messages in the last few days,” Lukaku wrote in an Instagram story.
“I really appreciate the support from you guys. Shit happens, and injuries are part of the game, but by the grace of God, I feel good, and I’m always positive-minded no matter what. See you soon.”
Lukaku has just begun his second season at Napoli, but his injury will force the Partenopei to look for another centre-forward for the 2025-26 campaign.
According to various sources, Lukaku is expected to remain out of action for approximately three months, but Gazzetta reported on Wednesday that the experienced centre-forward has decided against undergoing surgery.
The 32-year-old netted 14 goals in 36 Serie A games with Napoli in 2024-25, winning his second Serie A title under Antonio Conte.
Lukaku has also played for Inter and Roma in Serie A, and his contract at the Stadio Maradona expires in June 2027.
Napoli already signed Lorenzo Lucca in the centre-forward position this summer, but have also been linked with many other strikers, including Rasmus Hojlund, Artem Dovbyk and Tolu Arokodare.
