Relief For Barcelona As Cubarsi Injury Is A Precautionary Knock
He was replaced late on
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick played down fears over a possible injury to Pau Cubarsi after he asked to be taken off against Daegu.
The teenager looked to have picked up a problem late on in the game and was replaced but it seems he has avoided any kind of serious injury.
Flick was asked about Cubarsi after the game and said it was “just a knock.”
The Barca boss also spoke about his squad and is happy with what he has to work with for the new season.
“We have 26 players and four goalkeepers,” he added. “We don’t have to think any further. I’m happy with what I’ve seen so far.
Early reports suggest Cubarsi could sit out the Gamper Trophy game against Como but should be available for Barca’s opening La Liga match against Real Mallorca.
The news will be a relief for Barca, with Cubarsi one of the first names on Flick’s team sheets.
He’s expected to start the season alongside Inigo Martinez in the heart of Barca’s defense once more, although Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen will be pushing both hard for a starting spot.
