Napoli’s Osimhen Demands Complicate Galatasaray Deal
Negotiations continue to drag on between Napoli and Galatasaray for the signing of Victor Osimhen, with the Italian champions proving a difficult customer to deal with.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli have set a firm Saturday deadline for Galatasaray to finalise a permanent move for the Nigerian striker.
The reports reveal that Napoli are demanding concrete financial guarantees from the Turkish champions by July 19 or risk calling off the deal altogether. If the deadline passes without a resolution, the Italian club is prepared to shift focus to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, who have tabled a more lucrative bid backed by strong bank assurances.
The transfer has become one of the most complex sagas of the summer window.
Napoli reportedly want €40 million paid upfront, followed by €35 million in instalments by 2026, and a 20% sell-on clause. Galatasaray, on the other hand, have countered with €35 million to be paid by 2027 and have refused any sell-on agreement.
Despite the standoff, the situation remains fluid with talks expected to resume if either side softens their stance.
Osimhen, who enjoyed a prolific loan spell at Galatasaray last season with 37 goals in 41 matches, is keen to return to the Istanbul giants. He has reportedly skipped Napoli’s pre-season preparations, reinforcing his desire to leave permanently.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis remains unmoved. He has not only insisted on firm payment guarantees but also added an unusual clause designed to block Osimhen from returning to Serie A before the 2028-29 campaign — a move widely seen as protection against strengthening domestic rivals.
While Osimhen’s loyalty to Galatasaray is unquestionable, the clock is ticking. With Al-Hilal waiting in the wings and Napoli unwilling to bend beyond Saturday, the next few days could determine whether the Super Lig champions land their top summer target, or watch him head to the Middle East.
