Saudi, Villa Eye Grealish As City Set Asking Price

Aston Villa transfer latest as they’re linked again with a move for academy product Jack Grealish, after four years away from the club

Jack Grealish is available for a transfer fee of £40m this summer, according to reports – and clubs in the Saudi Pro League are claimed to be weighing up a move for the Aston Villa academy product. Grealish left Villa for Manchester City in the summer of 2021 and he has enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at the Etihad Stadium.

Manager Pep Guardiola did, though, admit at the end of the season that Grealish – who has fallen down the pecking order in that department of the squad, behind the likes of Savinho and Jeremy Doku – will need to be playing regularly next season and indicated that that’d probably be away from City.

Grealish still has two years left on the six-year contract he agreed with City when making the £100m switch from Villa, during which time he has won three Premier League titles and the Champions League among the various pieces of silverware the club have secured under Guardiola’s tutelage.

City are reportedly ready to accept less than half of what they paid Villa to sign Grealish this summer. A return to Villa has been mooted, so to have switches to Everton, to Newcastle United, Napoli and AC Milan. Now, two top clubs in Saudi Arabia have been linked on top of those various European clubs.

Pro League runners up last season Al-Hilal and fifth placed Al-Ahli are two sides who have been credited with an interest in Grealish; the former have his former teammate Joao Cancelo, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Ruben Neves, Kalidou Koulibaly, while Al-Ahli have Ivan Toney, another former teammate Riyad Mahrez and Roberto Firmino in their squad.
