Former Super Eagles striker Julius Aghahowa has thrown his weight behind Wilfred Ndidi’s potential move to Manchester United, according to Soccernet.ng.
The former Wigan Athletic forward described the Leicester City midfielder as the ideal player to bolster the Red Devils’ engine room.
Ndidi has been heavily linked with a summer switch to Old Trafford, with reports suggesting United are considering activating the Nigerian’s £9 million release clause following Leicester City’s relegation from the Premier League.
In an exclusive interview with Africafoot, the 32-capped former Nigerian international backed the deal and revealed what could transform Ruben Amorim’s midfield.
“Wilfred is the player the Red Devils need in midfield,” Aghahowa said. “He is surprisingly generous and capable of repeating efforts and covering a lot of space. He would be a considerable asset to the Manchester club if the transfer were to go through.”
With Casemiro nearing the end of his Manchester United journey, Ndidi’s arrival could provide much-needed discipline in midfield.
Ndidi made over 240 appearances for Leicester City and remains one of Nigeria’s most consistent performers in Europe.
His experience in the Premier League makes him a low-risk signing for United as they aim to rebuild for the 2025/26 season.
Meanwhile, multiple reports have linked Ndidi to Saudi Arabian clubs this summer, but his experience and familiarity with England might prove strong in his transfer decision.
