De Gea Sends Rashford Message Amid Barca Links
While Marcus Rashford’s future away from Manchester United remains an ongoing point of contention, the winger himself is very much focused on taking time out over the summer break. His latest activity appears it could be a reunion with former teammate David de Gea.
June has seen a period of limbo occur over Rashford and a possible transfer, whether permanent or a loan, away from Man United for the 2025/26 campaign. Sent to Aston Villa for six months after falling out of favour with Ruben Amorim, the Midlands club have not made an effort to cash in their £40m purchase option.
Lately it has been Spanish champions Barcelona in the mix with sporting director Deco confirming their interest alongside other targets this summer.
If Rashford wishes to know about living in Spain and playing in La Liga, De Gea is one person he could turn to. Before his long career with Man United, the goalkeeper came through the ranks at Atletico Madrid.
And the former Old Trafford teammates have the chance to breach that topic together as they have reunited over the off-season, confirmed by De Gea’s latest social media activity.
The 34-year-old, now playing for Fiorentina in Italy, posted an Instagram story with the caption: “Waiting for you [laughing face emoji, eyes emoji].” He also tagged Rashford’s account, with the image showing a padel racquet at his feet.
It appears the former United goalkeeper is keen to take on Rashford whilst on holiday.
The message comes amid ongoing speculation about Rashford’s future at Old Trafford. According to talkSPORT, Barcelona are starting to explore a loan agreement for the season ahead.
This is said to be on top of them signing Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams in a permanent deal.
So, United could get an easy solution to shipping Rashford off, though again only on a temporary basis that would mean they do not secure a full fee for his exit just yet.
Barca are said to be sending Ansu Fati on loan to AS Monaco, opening up more financial space, as well as a place in their squad, for another winger to join.
