Bayern Munich Agree Transfer Fee For Jonathan Tah

Jonathan Tah will be playing for Bayern Munich in the Club World Cup.

Bayern have already signed the defender, but it was unclear whether they would pay a transfer fee to allow Leverkusen to release him early.

According to a report from Bild, the transfer drama is over. Bayern have now agreed to pay a transfer fee, and the defender will travel to the USA.

Jonathan Tah transfer details
Bayer demanded a fee in the region of £1.7 million (€2 million), up to £3.4 million (€4 million), depending on Bayern’s success in this competition.

Initially, it felt like Bayern would not pay the transfer fee for Tah.

Christian Falk told CFBayern that Leverkusen missed out on £21m (€25m) they wanted from Tah, and that’s why they are not willing to compromise.

“Bayer Leverkusen are aware of the fact that they lost a lot of money last year on Jonathan Tah,” the head of football at BILD exclusively informed CF Bayern Insider.

“They had the green light from Max Eberl that Bayern wanted to bring Tah to Munich. In the end, however, he didn’t get the necessary thumbs-up from the supervisory board. So Leverkusen missed out on the €25m they wanted and are now set to earn nothing from the departure of their defensive leader.

“This is why they’re understood to be demanding a figure for Jonathan Tah’s early release, so they can get some of that lost money back. This is why they aren’t willing to compromise.”

However, Vincent Kompany urgently needed him for the Club World Cup, with several players out injured.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Bayern will pay around £674,000 (€800,000) fixed fee to bring Tah early from Leverkusen. The club will also cover Tah’s full wages during this time.

Good deal for all parties involved
Kompany has Josip Stanisic and Dayot Upamecano available with him, of whom the latter has recently returned to training.

Tah is currently with the German national team. Germany will face France in a Nations League match for third place on Sunday.

Kim Min-jae, who has recently been linked with a move to AC Milan, is expected to join the team in the USA, but doubts remain about whether he will be fit enough to participate.

Hiroki Ito will be out for a few months. Eric Dier will move to Monaco. Therefore, Kompany badly needed a new defender, and it appears to be a good deal for all parties involved.
