Napoli Confirm Conte Stay For Next Season
Antonio Conte has agreed to remain at Napoli and began planning for next season after today’s meeting with President Aurelio De Laurentiis, confirmed the patron.
The coach had been eager to move on after just one campaign where he pipped Inter to the Serie A title by a single point.
However, the open top bus parade, with pressure from players, fans, staff and his own family seemingly pushed Conte to change his mind.
President De Laurentiis also promised to invest in reinforcing the squad, as well as working on the training pitches that the staff had blamed for numerous injuries.
Conte is expected to receive a higher salary, but the same basic contract structure.
Conte convinced to stay on at Napoli
They were expected to have another meeting on Friday, but instead it was brought forward to this evening.
Conte, De Laurentiis, director Giovanni Manna and CEO Andrea Chiavelli were filmed leaving the event together, driving off to dinner.
After that, De Laurentiis announced via X (formerly Twitter) that they were setting out plans for the 2025-26 campaign.
“Full steam ahead, stronger than ever!”
There was also a formal tweet from the club account.
The President has always preferred to break the news himself via social media when there are big new signings or arrivals, doing so before the club releases a formal statement.
Napoli have already lined up one reinforcement, agreeing personal terms with Kevin De Bruyne as a free agent after he left Manchester City.
Juventus had hoped to bring Conte back to the club, but he has decided to aim even higher at Napoli.
