Napoli President Claims De Bruyne Bought Italian House
Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis says that he thinks Kevin De Bruyne has ‘already’ bought a house in Italy ahead of a potential move to join the Partenopei as a free agent this summer.
De Bruyne will be out of contract on June 30, bringing an end to a 10-year spell with Manchester City, which has brought six Premier League titles, one Champions League, two FA Cups and five EFL Cups.
Reports in recent weeks claim that the Belgian is close to securing a move to Napoli on a free transfer, despite advances from MLS, specifically from Chicago Fire.
De Laurentiis on De Bruyne: ‘I believe he’s bought a beautiful house’
Napoli are currently celebrating their 2024-25 Serie A title win, with an open-top bus parade taking place throughout the city of Naples on Monday.
Club President De Laurentiis was with the team and spoke to TG2 about the current situation regarding De Bruyne.
De Laurentiis was asked if supporters will see De Bruyne playing at the Stadio Maradona next season, to which he replied: “Probably yes.”
He continued: “I know that he has already bought, or rather I believe he has already bought a beautiful house. This morning I spoke to him, his wife and his nine-year-old son on a video call.”
De Laurentiis was also asked if this was an official announcement of De Bruyne’s signing, to which he replied: “No, we can’t say it until we have something in black and white. We are serious, that I know.”
Reports earlier in May confirm that De Bruyne’s wife has already been to visit the city of Naples to look at potential homes and schools for their family. The pair were married in Sorrento in Italy back in 2017.
Reports over the weekend suggest that Napoli have presented the 33-year-old with a three-year contract offer worth €6m per season in each of the first two years of the deal and a third year with a salary of €5m.
