Nigeria’s top table tennis player, Aruna Quadri, has sent out a passionate and emotional plea for more support from his fans in order to help him move further ahead at the ITTF World Championship in Doha, Qatar.
The stunning win over world number 13 ranked Benedikt Duda saw Quadri (ranked 31st) surge into the round of 16, but the Nigerian ping-pong ace acknowledged that he would need more support than ever to go all the way to the final.
Quadri said in the wake of his victory over Duda: “Thanks so much for your unlimited support. I’m very happy and excited. I was able to take revenge against an amazing player.
“Overall, your support actually kept me going in the game. Please come and support me again.”
According to Sports247, Quadri gained a pyrrhic victory – as he won 4-2 overall with results of 11-9, 4-11, 11-8, 2-11, 12-10, 11-9 in a six-game thriller.
