Kane: Bayern Commitment ‘For Foreseeable Future’

When one looks back at the last 10 years of transfers, there have been a lot of very strange transfers in world football. But one of the strangest of that strange bunch has to be Harry Edward Kane leaving Tottenham Hotspur and the Premier League to join Bayern Munich. Kane uprooted his family life, his status as home grown hero in the white part of London and gave up his pursuit of being the greatest Premier League goalscorer of all time in order to join the Bavarians.

Looking back at it, Kane admitted that the initial adaptation period was rough, but that he and his family have now settled in brilliantly:

“When we first moved to Germany, I mean, it was tough. I think the first six months I was here, my family was still in London, and I was in a hotel, so that was difficult – to be in a different country, to be away from them, and still have to perform,” Kane said, via @iMiaSanMia. “Now though, we’ve all been together in a house for over a year, and the kids are in school, they’re loving it. My wife’s really enjoyed it here and we’re loving every second. Like I said, the way the German people, the Bayern fans, have taken us in – it’s really made us feel special, not just for me, but for my family as well.”

But surely, despite the adaptation, Kane eventually wants to return to the Premier League and break the goalscoring record there. His contract only runs until 2027 and he will return to his home country by that time, right? Kane, however, has allowed life to lead him away from that goal: “I don’t really think about it,” Kane told BBCSport, via @iMiaSanMia. “I think I’ve learned in my career as you’ve become more experienced, you just do what you can. Football kind of takes you on your own journey. I really enjoy my time here and I’m not thinking about being anywhere else. We have a great coach, a great team, and I just want to be as successful as I can with Bayern.”

In general, the England captain continues to underline a desire to stay at Bayern: “I’m really happy here in Munich. My family has settled down. My kids are loving it here in school, so yes, this is my life here for the foreseeable future, Kane mused to ITV, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “I love the manager. I love the team here. I think we’re only just getting started with a really successful period for this club, and I want to be a big part of that. So who knows how many years, but for sure, I want to be here for a while.”
