Osimhen Suitor Targets Ndidi After Hefty Salary Offer
Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli have expressed interest in signing Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, according to Soccernet.ng.
This development comes shortly after reports emerged that the same club offered Ndidi’s compatriot, Victor Osimhen, a mouth-watering €30 million per year in a four-year deal to lure the Napoli striker to the Middle East.
Ndidi, whose contract with the East Midlands outfit was renewed last summer, has become a top target for Al-Ahli as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the new Saudi league campaign.
The Nigerian international played a key role in Leicester’s promotion back to the Premier League but was unable to help the Foxes retain their top-flight status, with the club returning to the EFL Championship.
Despite renewing his contract, Ndidi has been linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium to avoid another relegation battle. Crystal Palace have previously emerged as one of the potential suitors.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old has continued to attract interest from clubs across Europe and Asia, thanks to his consistent top-level performances for the Foxes.
According to Arriyadiyah, Ndidi’s agent confirmed Al-Ahli’s interest and indicated that discussions could begin soon.
Earlier, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Al-Ahli representatives were set to meet with Osimhen’s camp to convince the 26-year-old to make a big-money switch to Saudi Arabia.
However, that move seems unlikely for Osimhen, who reportedly prefers a transfer to a top European club over a Middle Eastern adventure.
Ndidi, on the other hand, may be open to a move to Asia, with the chance to cash in on a lucrative offer, rather than play in the English second tier next season.
