What Chelsea Get For Winning UEFA Conference League As Prize Money, Permutations Explained
Chelsea could rake in millions if they get their hands on the UEFA Conference League trophy. The Blues enjoyed a brilliant start to the new-look campaign, winning each of their six ‘league phase’ games.
Enzo Maresca’s side cruised past Copenhagen in the round of 16 before storming past Legia Warsaw in the quarterfinals. Now, only Djurgårdens can stop Chelsea from reaching the final at the Stadion Wrocław in Poland.
If the west Londoners can bypass the Swedish outfit, they’ll face either Fiorentina or Real Betis on May 8. So, with that being said, football.london has rounded up what Chelsea will be awarded for winning the Conference League.
Chelsea rake in millions from the prize pot
The Blues will rake in millions if they get their hands on another European trophy. UEFA have revealed that the total amount available for distribution to participating clubs in 2024/25 is €3.317bn (£2.8bn), of which just 8.6% (€285m/£242.30m) will be made available for the teams in the Conference League.
So far, Chelsea have secured about €7m for reaching the semi-finals. That fee would double if the west Londoners can win the competition.
Winner: €7m (£5.90m)
Runner-up: €4m (£3.37m)
Semi-finalists: €2.5m (£2.11m)
Quarter-finalists: €1.3m (£1.10m)
Round of 16: €800,000 (£674,135)
Reaching knockout round play-off: €200,000 (£168,533)
League-phase wins: €400,000 (£337,067)
League-phase draws: €133,000 (£112,075)
Maresca secures qualification to UEFA competition
Since the competition was founded in 2021/22, the Conference League winners have been awarded a spot in the following season of the Europa League ‘league phase’ (formerly group stage). If the Blues win the tournament and qualify for the Europa League via the Premier League, the vacancy created will be filled by either the domestic cup winner or the highest domestically ranked club from its division that hasn’t already qualified for competition directly.
If Chelsea win the Conference League and qualify for the Champions League via the Premier League, the club has the right to choose between either the European top-flight or the Europa League.
Chelsea write themselves into the history books
Chelsea have the chance to write themselves into the UEFA history books, becoming the first club to ever win the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.
