UCL: Guardiola reveals Man City’s approach for must-win clash against Club Brugge
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has shared his team’s strategy ahead of their crucial Champions League clash against Club Brugge on Wednesday.
City’s performance in the competition has been less than impressive this season. They recently suffered a 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, which left them in a challenging position.
Currently sitting 25th in the standings, Guardiola’s side holds eight points with two wins, two draws, and three losses — one spot away from qualifying for the knockout stage.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Guardiola emphasized the importance of a composed and strategic approach against the Belgian side.
“The situation we have is that we have to win the game, and if not, we will not continue in this competition,” Guardiola stated. “But it’s not a problem; it’s an opportunity, a challenge, and we will face it.”
The City boss acknowledged the team’s desire for an explosive start but remained realistic.
“We would like to score a lot in the first 20 minutes, but I don’t think it is going to happen,” he admitted.
Guardiola stressed the need for calm and focus, saying, “The approach is to read the game we have to play – be completely relaxed, no emotions, and understand the game. I know these types of games require something special.”
