The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has authorized three of its Commissions – Athletes, Medical and Technical to visit various camping sites of Team Nigeria preparing for the All African Games.
The teams are training toward the 13th African Games officially kicking off on March 8 in Accra, Cape Coast and Kumasi.
This is the first time the Games have been spread in more than one city since the start of the championship in 1965 in the Congo, Brazzaville.
The NOC president notes the camping sites are spread across the country in Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan and Gombe.
The Athletes Commission, the Technical and Medical are to take turns visiting the camps as part of taking note of the welfare conditions of the athletes, without disrupting the training and their living conditions.
In order not to cause logistics problems, the members close to the camping sites would visit sites close to them.
Engr. Habu Gumel announced that the team would be transported to the Games’ venue via arrangements still being worked on. They would be moved in batches.
The Games would end on March. 23.
It has been gathered that the Women in Sports and the NOC Women Commission have already visited the Lagos camping site at National Stadium, Lagos and made some donations jointly received by Camp Commander, Femi Ajao and Lagos Liaison Officer, Nkana Mbora.
