Sancho returns to Man United training ground for Erik ten Hag talks
Jadon Sancho reported at Manchester United’s training ground at 12.30pm on Monday amid uncertainty over his future.
United have been approached for comment but the expectation is manager Erik ten Hag will address Sancho’s situation at his pre-match press conference on Friday.
Sancho reacted angrily to Ten Hag’s explanation for his omission in the matchday squad against Arsenal, saying, “I will not allow people saying things that [are] completely untrue”.
Ten Hag said Sancho was dropped for the 3-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium due to his training form, which prompted Sancho to post a 110-word statement on his Twitter page that has since been pinned.
The Manchester Evening News reported in April that Ten Hag was becoming impatient with Sancho, who has consistently underperformed since he joined United in July 2021.
Sancho is contracted to United until 2026 and the club has the option of an additional year.
“Jadon was [absent] on his performance on the training,” Ten Hag said. “We didn’t select him. You have to reach a level every day at Manchester United and we can make choices on the frontline, so for this game he wasn’t selected.”
Sancho wrote: “Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair!
“All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!”
