Ahead 2023/2024 Season: Kwara United Charged To Brace Up For Challenges
The Chairman of Kwara United Football Club, Kumbi Titiloye has charged players and officials of the club to brace up for the challenges in the forthcoming 2023-2024 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, which has been rescheduled to kick off September 16th, 2023.
While officially welcoming the new players into the club today, Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Club’s Secretariat, Titiloye tasked all players to align and abide by the philosophy of the club both on and off the pitch of play.
“This is yet another preparation towards another league journey. I, therefore, welcome you officially, as you join us to fight for honours in the 2023-2024 season.
“We are a club with great history and ambition, and for every one of you here who made the team, it means you are able and capable of running this battle with Kwara United this coming season. We shall provide for you, all the motivations you would need to deliver.
Kwara United registered 35 players for the season, with 19 of them being new players. The 16 returning players include three goalkeepers, three attackers, five midfielders, two defenders and three youth players.
Among the new players are Abbey Benson, Victor Okoro, Hameed Sikiru, Ikenna Offor, Shola Abdulraheem, Boje Usman Abdullahi, Olanrewaju Rahman, ThankGod Ikeagu and Ayodeji Abayomi.
Others are Ejeh Isaiah, Sadeeq Yusuf, Ayo Adejubu, Omolaoye Abiodun, Adeoye Victor, Ogunbiyi Issiaka and Bernard Ovoke.
Kumbi therefore, commended the state government, led by the Executive Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Sports Commission, under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Mallam Bola Mogaji for their support of the team.
He equally commended the Supporters Club, the Fans Club and the stakeholders, for standing behind the team, even as he added that their support will make the difference for the team in the forthcoming season.
Meanwhile, the Technical Adviser of Kwara United Football Club, Coach Kabir Sulaiman Dogo has expressed the team’s readiness to face the hostilities in the forthcoming 2023-2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Kwara United will begin their campaign in the league with an away game against Katsina United in Katsina.
The team played all their matches in the 2022-2023 Abridged League season away from home, playing first-round home matches in Ibadan, and the second round in Akure, struggling against relegation.
The team will have the opportunity of playing at home in Ilorin this season, following the installation of natural grass at the pitch of the Main Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
“We have done our best, and we believe with prayers, government backing and the support from the stakeholders, we are hopeful of a good outing.
