Team Nigeria Win 7 medals at World Powerlifting Championships
The Nigerian team won seven medals including two gold, two silver and three bronze medals at the just-concluded World Powerlifting Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, United States (UAE).
It has been reported that the championship will qualify Nigeria for the 2024 Paralympic Games in France.
Charles Ezenwanne, President of Para Power lifting, praised the athletes’ impressive performance.
He emphasized that to keep Nigeria at this level of dominance, athletes must constantly improve and never stop inventing new strategies.
He added that as the sport evolves, athletes must also develop new rules and techniques.
“The performance of our contingent underscores the country’s status as a leader in powerlifting and our strong winning culture and competitive mentality.
“We cannot take things for granted or sit back and relax while other countries start to focus more on the sport, which is throwing us off balance,” he said.
He emphasized that the preparations for the 2024 Paralympic Games should not be taken for granted.
