TNT Sports to air Asia Cup 2023 in UK and Ireland
TNT Sports, a joint venture between the media groups, Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe, and BT Group, has obtained an exclusive contract with Disney Star, the Asian Cricket Council‘s (ACC) worldwide rights holder, to air the Asia Cup 2023 throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.
TNT Sports, which replaces BT Sport across the UK and Ireland, was introduced last month. The new sports network began with the programming of the Premier League‘s (PL) new season.
The cricket event, which will take place from August 30 to September 17, will be jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the ODI format, with six participating teams grouped into two separate pools of three teams each.
Pakistan will face Nepal in the first of six group-stage matches. The much-anticipated India-Pakistan match will take place on September 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
Harry Griffith, Head of Acquisition & Syndication, Sports, Disney Star, said, “This is an exciting development for cricket fans in the UK and Ireland. India-Pakistan is the most eagerly anticipated and highest rated match on the global cricket calendar. We’re thrilled to associate with TNT Sports in the UK and Ireland.”
“The addition of more top-flight cricket featuring superstars from the world of Asian cricket is great news for cricket fans and TNT Sports subscribers in the UK and Ireland,” added, Trojan Paillot, SVP rights and acquisitions, WBD Sports Europe.
TNT Sports is accessible on every one of the leading TV platforms, such as BT, Sky, and Virgin Media, as well as through its streaming destination, Discovery+.
