Rasheed Sodiq: Soaring high in Macedonia
The days of defenders being one-dimensional brutes are a thing of the past as they are also expected to dictate play from the back and help create overloads in midfield.
That is one part that distinguished highly rated Nigeria defender, Rasheed Sodiq in the North Macedonia top league in the recent time. The electrifying defender has been a major topic in the Macedonia media.
Sodiq joined FK Rabotnicki on a free transfer after spending less than six months with FK Skopje in the league. He left FK Skopje following the expiration of his contract, and refusal of improved contracts.
“I have always remain a focus player, I take things one after the other. I am glad for my career here, and everyone appreciating my contribution in the team,” said Sodiq.
His recent performance has turned the country’s football lovers awe following a saving goal from the Nigeria defender which earned him consecutive slots in the league’s team of the weeks with a fantastic goal last week that gave them 2-0 victory against their opponent.
Sodiq’s uncle and manager Anthony Ushurhe the CEO Anthema Sports management LLC is delighted at his performance and has revealed European clubs are already monitoring the progress of the Nigerian player with talks of possible summer move.
The former Messiah FC and Remo Stars man was voted Man of the match two times for the new club.
At the age of 23, the explosive player has been rated among the best defender in the league with all eyes on him.
In FK Skopje, he was recognized for his brilliance, as the 1. MFL included him in their Team of the Week on many occasions.
