If Vinnie Jones can do it! Cristiano Ronaldo backed for Hollywood career over football ownership after retirement

Cristiano Ronaldo has been tipped to swap the football pitch for the silver screen once he finally hangs up his boots, with former Manchester United teammate Mikael Silvestre insisting the Portuguese superstar has the charisma and global appeal to become a successful Hollywood actor.

Ronaldo still chasing history before retirement

Although speculation about Ronaldo’s life after football continues to grow, the 41-year-old remains fully focused on extending his legendary playing career.

The Al-Nassr captain still has one year remaining on the richest contract in world football and continues to pursue one of the biggest milestones in football history — reaching 1,000 competitive career goals.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is also hoping to play alongside his eldest son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr., should the youngster establish himself at senior level, while appearances at Euro 2028 and the 2030 FIFA World Cup remain realistic ambitions.

For now, retirement is not on Ronaldo’s immediate agenda.

Hollywood tipped as Ronaldo’s next destination

Whenever Ronaldo decides to call time on his extraordinary career, Silvestre believes acting—not football club ownership—should be his next challenge.

Speaking to GOAL in association with BetVictor Online Casino, the former France international backed his ex-teammate to thrive in the entertainment industry.

“I think the sky is the limit for him. Everything that he touches or invests himself in becomes a successful business.

“I think he mentioned becoming an actor a while back when he was at the Dubai awards. He said he would want to become an actor. I think that’s his next move.

“If Vinnie Jones can become an actor, a good-looking guy like Cristiano for sure can do the job.”

The comments come after Ronaldo expanded his business empire by launching his own film studio, further fuelling speculation that he intends to establish himself in Hollywood after football.

A global superstar beyond football

Few athletes possess Ronaldo’s worldwide influence.

With hundreds of millions of followers across social media platforms and commercial partnerships spanning the globe, the Portugal captain already commands the type of audience many Hollywood studios dream of attracting.

His profile, combined with decades of media experience and natural confidence in front of cameras, could make him one of the most marketable former athletes to transition into film.

Rather than investing in football clubs or moving into management, acting may offer Ronaldo an entirely new stage on which to build his global brand.

Oscar dreams not ruled out

Former France midfielder Emmanuel Petit has previously argued that Ronaldo has all the qualities required to succeed in cinema.

Petit believes elite footballers are natural entertainers and questioned why more sporting icons have not pursued acting careers, pointing to figures such as Eric Cantona, Vinnie Jones, David Ginola and Frank Leboeuf as successful examples.

He also suggested Ronaldo’s remarkable mental strength, global reputation and life story could one day inspire a major Hollywood biopic—and perhaps even an Academy Award.

For now, though, Ronaldo’s attention remains fixed on adding more goals, trophies and records before eventually writing the next chapter of an already extraordinary career.
