Canada have received a massive boost ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after head coach Jesse Marsch revealed that Alphonso Davies is still expected to feature in the tournament despite ongoing injury concerns.

The Bayern Munich superstar is currently recovering from a hamstring tear suffered during a clash against Paris Saint-Germain, leaving many Canadian supporters worried that their biggest star could miss the World Cup on home soil.

While Davies is now expected to miss Canada’s opening Group B fixture against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12, Marsch remains optimistic that the explosive full-back will still play an important role later in the competition.

“They want to see him play in the World Cup,” Marsch added.

“I think they understand that supporting their players for both club and country is important.”

Davies Set To Rejoin Canada Camp Soon

Marsch confirmed Davies is expected to join the national team camp in Edmonton on May 31 after completing the early stages of his recovery in Germany.

The coaching staff will then continue monitoring his progress carefully before deciding when he can safely return to action.

“We’ll pick up his rehab from there and try to put him in a position to physically succeed,” Marsch stated.

Canada are currently preparing for the tournament with friendly matches against Uzbekistan and Ireland as excitement builds ahead of the country’s co-hosting duties alongside the United States and Mexico.
