Showtime Flag Football Delivers Week 5 Blowouts As Warriors Stay On Top, Knights Chase Hard And Week 6 Sets Up Title Defining Clashes
The Showtime Bowl Series XIV continued to light up the Nigerian sports scene in Week 5, delivering dominant performances, statement victories, and a standings table that is beginning to separate contenders from chasers.
At the top, Abia Warriors once again proved why they are the team to beat, powering past the Delta Panthers 51–18 to maintain their grip on first place. Their consistency and attacking firepower continue to define the title race.
Right behind them, the Lagos Knights delivered one of the most ruthless performances of the week, crushing the Delta Braves 52–0. The Knights remain firmly in second place, keeping the pressure on the leaders with a statement of intent.
The Ibom Raptors also sent a warning to the rest of the league, dismantling the Rivers Alphas 49–0. Despite the emphatic win, they stay third, highlighting just how tight the top of the table has become.
One of the biggest stories of the week came from the Cross River Ikan, who delivered a stunning 63–13 demolition of the Ogun Horns. That result sparked the biggest climb of the round, pushing Ikan from 8th to 5th and back into serious contention.
Meanwhile, the Lagos Rebels dominated city rivals Lagos Greenbacks 40–8 to solidify their place in the top four, while the Greenbacks slipped further down the table.
With the dust settling on Week 5, the message is clear — the top four are holding firm, but the battle beneath them is heating up rapidly.
Now, all eyes turn to Week 6 on Sunday, April 26 at Showtime Arena, where the stakes rise even higher and every game carries serious implications.
The headline fixture sees Lagos Rebels vs Lagos Knights, a high-stakes showdown that could shake the top of the table. The Knights will be looking to keep pressure on the leaders, while the Rebels aim to break into the top three.
Elsewhere, league leaders Abia Warriors face a tricky test against Rivers Alphas, who will be desperate to respond after a heavy defeat. Ibom Raptors take on Ogun Horns, with the Raptors looking to maintain their strong form and stay in the title conversation.
Delta Panthers vs Delta Braves presents a battle for recovery between two sides looking to bounce back, while the resurgent Cross River Ikan will aim to continue their climb when they face Lagos Greenbacks.
As the season intensifies, one thing is undeniable — Showtime is not just hosting games, it is redefining flag football in Africa with power, pace, and pure entertainment.
Week 6 is set… and the pressure is rising.
