João Pedro Credits Liam Rosenior for Chelsea Form Surge After Comparisons to Kane and Haaland
João Pedro has credited Liam Rosenior for the dramatic improvement in his form at Chelsea F.C..
The Brazilian striker has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League in recent weeks, with his manager even comparing his current impact to elite forwards like Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.
Tactical Shift Sparks João Pedro’s Rise
Chelsea have experienced a strong turnaround since Rosenior replaced Enzo Maresca earlier this year.
Under the new manager, João Pedro’s numbers have significantly improved. The 24-year-old forward has recorded 11 goals and five assists since the coaching change, pushing his season tally to 18 goals across competitions.
Some of his standout performances include:
-
A hat-trick against Aston Villa F.C.
-
A crucial FA Cup goal against Wrexham A.F.C.
His efficiency has also impressed analysts, boasting a 24.6% shot conversion rate, which is higher than Haaland’s 22.4% this season, though still behind Kane’s 31.3%.
Rosenior’s Influence Behind the Scenes
According to João Pedro, Rosenior’s hands-on management style has played a huge role in his development.
The Brazilian revealed that the manager regularly holds one-on-one meetings with him to analyze performances and provide guidance.
Speaking to UEFA, João Pedro said:
“When the new manager arrived, he told me that he already knew who I was and wanted to help me develop. That’s something I like to hear from a coach because without that feedback it’s easy to become complacent.”
He added that those conversations motivate him to constantly push for improvement and reach his highest level.
Chelsea Manager Makes Bold Comparison
Rosenior has also been outspoken about the striker’s potential, suggesting he belongs among football’s elite attackers.
While acknowledging the achievements of stars like Haaland and Kane — and even mentioning Kylian Mbappé — the Chelsea boss insisted that João Pedro has already shown world-class qualities.
Speaking during a press conference, Rosenior said:
“Joao is in that category now. In the two months I’ve been here, he has consistently shown he is a world-class striker.”
He added that despite the quality of other top forwards, he would not swap João Pedro for any striker at the moment, highlighting the Brazilian’s importance to Chelsea’s ambitions.
Chelsea’s Top-Four Push
With João Pedro leading the attack, Chelsea are now strongly competing for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
If the Brazilian continues his current form, he could become one of the league’s most decisive forwards this season and further justify the bold comparisons made by his manager.
