Epic T20 Thriller: South Africa Edge Afghanistan After Two Super Overs In Ahmedabad
Cricket fans were treated to one of the most unforgettable matches in T20 World Cup history as South Africa narrowly defeated Afghanistan after two thrilling super overs at Ahmedabad.
The game saw high drama from the start. South Africa posted 187‑6, led by explosive half-centuries from Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton, before Afghanistan’s chase was kept alive by Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who smashed 84 off 42 balls. Cameos from Azmatullah Omarzai and Rashid Khan added 22 and 20 runs respectively, setting the stage for a nail-biting finish.

Needing 13 runs off the final over with only one wicket left, Afghanistan were handed a lifeline through two no-balls from Kagiso Rabada. But with two runs required from three balls, Fazalhaq Farooqi was run out attempting a second, forcing a super over.
In a rare spectacle, the first super over ended tied at 17 runs each. It was only in the second super over that the Proteas emerged victorious. David Miller’s 16 from four balls propelled South Africa to 23-0, while Keshav Maharaj sealed the win by taking two crucial wickets. Afghanistan finished just four runs short, bringing the stadium to fever pitch.
