Amad Diallo Mocks Arteta As Man Utd Expose Arsenal’s Set-Piece Obsession At Emirates
Manchester United winger Amad Diallo didn’t just help his side hurt Arsenal on the pitch — he made sure the pain lingered long after the final whistle. Following United’s dramatic 3–2 victory at the Emirates Stadium, the Ivory Coast international took to social media with a savage post that openly mocked Mikel Arteta’s tactics and Arsenal’s growing dependence on set-pieces.
And just like that, salt was firmly rubbed into the wound.
“Your Only Hope Is A Corner” – Amad Fires The Shot
After Matheus Cunha’s stunning late winner sealed a famous away win for United, Amad responded to a pre-match fan post confidently predicting a 4–0 Arsenal win. His reply was brutal and simple:
The message instantly went viral, striking at the heart of an uncomfortable truth Arsenal fans have been trying to ignore.
Are Arsenal Becoming Too Predictable?
There’s no doubt Arteta’s side remain one of the most productive teams in the league. With 42 goals in 23 matches, only Manchester City have outscored them this season. But the numbers hide a worrying pattern.
Arsenal have scored 26 goals from set-pieces — the highest tally across Europe’s top five leagues. While that’s impressive, their struggles in open play are becoming increasingly obvious.
Several key attackers are enduring alarming droughts:
-
Bukayo Saka: no goals in his last 13 games in all competitions
-
Viktor Gyökeres: no non-penalty goals in 11 league matches
-
Gabriel Martinelli: goalless in his last 13 Premier League games
-
Noni Madueke: zero goals in 25 league appearances
-
Leandro Trossard: just one goal in his last 11 outings
Against United, Arsenal again looked blunt from open play, only finding joy through another corner — bundled home by Mikel Merino late on.
Three minutes later, Cunha ended their hopes.
United’s New Freedom Under Carrick
While Arsenal wrestle with tactical questions, United are enjoying a clear bounce under interim manager Michael Carrick. Amad, in particular, is thriving after being freed from the wing-back role he often played under Ruben Amorim.
Carrick has restored Amad to his natural position out wide, with Bryan Mbeumo leading the line and big-money signing Benjamin Šeško watching from the bench.
The results? Statement wins over Manchester City and Arsenal — and renewed belief around Old Trafford.
Speaking after the game, Carrick remained grounded:
“We’ve got to use the emotion and confidence, but also stay humble. You don’t get results like this by looking too far ahead.”
Ironically, humility was the very word Amad used in his online jab at Arsenal.
Pressure Mounts On Arteta
With Arsenal’s title lead now cut to four points, the criticism is growing louder. Set-pieces can win matches, but over-reliance can also limit creativity and make teams predictable — especially against elite opposition.
Amad’s post may have been cheeky, but it reflected what many neutrals are starting to see: Arsenal need more variety, more individuality, and more danger from open play if they want to go all the way.
For now, United celebrate — and Amad enjoys having the last laugh.
