Nicolas Pepe finally quits Arsenal for Trabzonspor
Nicolas Pepe has become the latest player to leave Arsenal this summer with his move to Trabzonspor being confirmed.
It’s understood that the Ivory Coast international has put pen-to-paper on a short-term contract with the Turkish Super Lig outfit and whilst, at the time of writing, there’s been no announcement from the Gunners, a series of posts on social media all but confirms the deal is done.
Now, despite Trabzonspor confirming the transfer, all the formalities may not have been completed just yet. But it should only be a matter of time before an official announcement as Pepe is expected to undergo his medical on Friday morning before signing on the dotted line.
With that said, the winger has already outlined his ambitions for his new club: “I came here to become a champion and achieve success,” he told the club’s social media channel. It remains to be seen how much Arsenal earn from this sale as it’s been reported that the fee is between €4m (£3.4m) and €5m (£4.3m).
Having been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League as well as Beskitas, the 28-year-old could, ironically, make his Trabzonspor debut against the former as that is the first game after the international break.
Although it might be a case of Pepe being eased back into action as he’s not played a single minute of competitive football since April as a result of a knee injury that disrupted his loan spell with OGC Nice during the second half of last season.
