1XCup Organisers Thank Lagos Football Fans For Massive Support
The 2025 edition of the prestigious 1X Cup football championship has come and gone, yet, the fond and exciting memories will continue to linger on the minds of the organisers and of course, the thousands of Lagos football fans who have continued to wax lyrical about the football championship.
Whilst many of the football fans opines that the frequency of the soccer showpiece should be increased, the organisers have also been expressing heartfelt gratitude to the top dignitaries that graced the finals, which included the highly regarded sportspreneur and philanthropist, Chief Yemi Idowu, Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, Chairman of Lagos FA, Hajji Gafar Liameed who was ably represented by his vice, Dotun Coker and journalists, Felix Awogu and Toyin Ibitoye, amongst other special guests.
The Chief Executive Officer and Technical Director of the 1X cup, Engr. Waidi Akanni, also expressed his joy and happiness with the massive and near capacity turnout of football fans at the finals played at the iconic Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
Akanni, a former Super Eagles player and the brain behind the biggest grassroots football championship in Nigeria, was also effusive in praises for the sponsors 1X, for providing an enabling platform for thousands of soccer playing Nigerian youths to expose their God-given talents to the world.
He went ahead to assure that next year’s edition of the football championship shall be better, bigger, exciting and more glamorous.
