Moises Caicedo Responds to Comparisons With Chelsea Legends Kante and Makelele After Stunning Goal vs Liverpool
Moises Caicedo is beginning to look like Chelsea’s midfield heartbeat, but the Ecuadorian star insists he is still far from reaching the legendary status of N’Golo Kante and Claude Makelele.
The £115m signing from Brighton delivered one of the moments of the season with a thunderous long-range strike in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Liverpool, adding a new dimension to his already dominant defensive game.
A Midfield Destroyer With Attacking Flair
Known primarily for his ball-winning ability and composure in midfield, the 23-year-old has started adding goals to his game. His strike against Liverpool not only stunned the crowd at Stamford Bridge but also highlighted his evolution from midfield enforcer to all-round powerhouse.
Caicedo Plays Down Comparisons
Despite the comparisons to Chelsea’s greatest defensive midfielders, Caicedo remains humble. Speaking to the club’s media, he made it clear that he has plenty more to achieve:
“It’s so good the fans love me, but for sure I am very far from N’Golo Kante or Makelele. What they did here was a lot. I am going to keep working because I want to become a legend here and reach a lot of things with this amazing club.”
Chelsea’s Brightening Future Under Maresca
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca seems to be bringing stability after turbulent years for the club. The victory over Liverpool was a statement win, achieved even without injured star Cole Palmer. With Caicedo anchoring midfield, Chelsea look well-placed to rebuild into genuine title contenders.
For now, Caicedo refuses to be drawn into comparisons with legends. But if he continues performing at this level, it may only be a matter of time before he writes his own chapter in Chelsea’s history books.
