Barcelona Squad Revealed For La Liga Opener
FC Barcelona will begin the defence of their La Liga title later this evening when they take on RCD Mallorca away at Son Moix.
Ahead of the trip to Palma, manager Hansi Flick has announced the squad list of players who will be making the flight.
The big news is that new signing Joan Garcia headlines the squad list and is expected to make his official debut for Barcelona, after finally being registered in La Liga this morning.
Meanwhile, as expected, Marcus Rashford is also included in the squad, although his registration is yet to be made official.
There is no place in the squad for Wojciech Szczesny and Gerard Martin, both of whom are yet to be registered. Marc-Andre ter Stegen, meanwhile, misses through injury.
As a result, Inaki Pena and Diego Kochen have been called up as backup goalkeepers while teenage prodigy Jofre Torrents also earns a spot as cover for Alejandro Balde at left-back.
Robert Lewandowski has not fully recovered from his thigh muscle issue and misses out as well. Marc Bernal has also not been risked as he continues his recovery from the ACL injury.
Flick has also called up teenage wonderkids Pedro ‘Dro’ Fernandez, Toni Fernandez, and Guille Fernandez for the game to provide cover in midfield and attack. However, new signing Roony Bardghji does not make the cut.
