Hull City owner Acun Ilicali has publicly dismissed what he described as “false transfer rumours” surrounding the club’s summer recruitment, offering supporters an unusually detailed insight into the Tigers’ transfer plans as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.

The Turkish businessman also revealed the progress of several potential signings, reassuring fans that Hull remain firmly on course to strengthen the squad ahead of the new campaign.

Ilicali responds to growing transfer speculation

“We are reading dozens of false transfer rumors in many places. We are disturbed by the claims that we have been rejected and by the use of our club’s name to gain attention.

“We have been working intensively for two months. I believe we will build a team that we will all be proud of.

“To prevent false speculation and to give you more information, I am leaving you with our latest transfer situation, which includes some clues.”

Mystery percentages hint at incoming signings

In an unusual move, Ilicali accompanied his statement with a series of national flags and percentage figures representing the progress of ongoing transfer negotiations.

Among the most notable was a Japanese flag accompanied by a 99 per cent probability, with BBC Radio Humberside reporting that the update likely refers to free-agent midfielder Hidemasa Morita.

Additional flags representing Greece, Sweden, Australia, Croatia and Portugal were also included, suggesting Hull are pursuing several international targets. One of those is believed to be Olympiakos goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis.

Financial backing boosts Hull’s ambitions
