Liam Gallagher ready to perform Wonderwall if England reach World Cup final

‘I’m ready’ – Liam Gallagher makes ‘Wonderwall’ World Cup final promise as iconic Oasis anthem becomes soundtrack to England’s hunt for glory

Liam Gallagher has fuelled England’s World Cup dream by hinting he is ready to perform Wonderwall at the 2026 World Cup final if the Three Lions make it all the way.

The Oasis frontman responded to fans on social media after England’s dramatic quarter-final victory over Mexico, with the band’s iconic 1995 anthem continuing to echo around stadiums as the unofficial soundtrack to Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup campaign.

Gallagher embraces England’s anthem

Following England’s thrilling victory, Gallagher celebrated the occasion on social media, joking about hearing thousands of supporters singing the famous Oasis hit.

“It’s hard work that singing Harry Kane, c’mon ENGLAND c’mon WONDERWALL,” he posted.

One supporter then challenged the singer to take the celebrations one step further by performing Wonderwall on the pitch should England reach the World Cup final.

The response was short but enough to excite supporters everywhere.

“We’ll see. I’m ready.”

Those three words quickly went viral, raising hopes that one of Britain’s biggest rock stars could provide the soundtrack to a potential World Cup final appearance.

England survive dramatic night in Mexico

The excitement follows England’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Mexico at the Estadio Azteca.

Jude Bellingham fired the Three Lions into a commanding first-half lead with two goals before Julian Quinones reduced the deficit. England’s task became even tougher when Jarell Quansah was sent off after a reckless challenge.

Harry Kane restored England’s cushion from the penalty spot before Raul Jimenez converted a late spot-kick to set up a tense finish. Despite playing with 10 men, England held on to book a quarter-final meeting with Norway.

Throughout the match, England’s travelling supporters repeatedly burst into renditions of Wonderwall, reinforcing its status as the team’s unofficial tournament anthem.

Kane left speechless after emotional victory

The celebrations took their toll on England captain Harry Kane, who admitted afterwards that he had almost lost his voice.

Reflecting on the dramatic victory, Kane said:

“The occasion, the team, everything against us, we found a way. Incredible, unbelievable support. I’m speechless. I can’t even talk!”

With England now just two wins away from the World Cup final, fans will be hoping Kane’s goals continue to flow—and if Gallagher’s promise becomes reality, Wonderwall could provide the perfect soundtrack to the biggest night in English football for nearly 60 years.
