The Bayern Munich striker fronted the BBC cameras moments after the final whistle at the Estadio Azteca, but instead of his usual composed delivery, Kane could only manage a squeaky, raspy voice after celebrating England’s dramatic victory with teammates and supporters.
The England captain admitted the occasion had taken its toll on his vocal cords after an emotionally draining night in Mexico City.
Kane smiled through the discomfort as he reflected on England’s spirited performance.
“It was a crazy game. We had to fight and we had to find something. I’ve just been singing, I can’t really talk.”
Still struggling to get his words out, he added:
“The occasion, the team, everything against us, we found a way. Incredible, unbelievable support. I’m speechless. I can’t even talk!”
