SWAN Celebrates National Patron Adeniyi on Tenure Extension As Customs CG, Hails Impactful Reforms

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has congratulated the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), CG Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, on the extension of his tenure by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the decision as a recognition of his exemplary leadership, professionalism and contributions to national development.

In a congratulatory message signed by SWAN Secretary-General, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, on behalf of SWAN President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, the National Executive Committee and entire membership of the association, the body commended CG Adeniyi for his commitment to repositioning the Nigeria Customs Service through impactful reforms and strategic leadership.

The SWAN President, who described Adeniyi as the association’s National Patron, said the tenure extension reflects the confidence and trust placed in the Customs boss by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government following the remarkable progress recorded under his leadership.

“The extension of your tenure is a clear testament to your exceptional leadership, dedication, professionalism and the remarkable reforms you have introduced within the Nigeria Customs Service. It is a recognition of your commitment to excellence and your determination to deliver meaningful results for Nigeria,” Benjamin stated.

He noted that Adeniyi’s administration has contributed significantly to strengthening revenue generation, improving trade facilitation, promoting transparency and enhancing border security, adding that these efforts have continued to reinforce the strategic role of the Customs Service in national economic growth.

“Under your stewardship, the Nigeria Customs Service has continued to record notable achievements, earning the confidence of the Federal Government and stakeholders across various sectors. This extension reflects the belief in your capacity to continue driving the Service towards greater efficiency and excellence,” the SWAN President added.

Benjamin further acknowledged the importance of innovation, accountability and institutional reforms in building a modern Customs Service, expressing confidence that the extended tenure would provide an opportunity for CG Adeniyi to consolidate ongoing initiatives and deliver more milestones.

“As you embark on this extended period of service, we are confident that your wealth of experience, commitment and leadership qualities will continue to inspire progress and contribute positively to the development of our nation,” he said.

The SWAN President prayed for continued wisdom, good health, strength and divine guidance for the Customs boss as he continues to lead the Service, while assuring him of the association’s goodwill and support.
