Mexico Player Ratings Vs Ghana: Gilberto Mora Steals The Show As El Tri Build World Cup Momentum

Mexico continued their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a confident 2-0 victory over Ghana in Puebla, and several players gave Javier Aguirre plenty to smile about ahead of the tournament.

While pre-World Cup friendlies are more about experimentation than perfection, El Tri produced an encouraging display in front of a passionate home crowd at Estadio Cuauhtemoc. The biggest talking point? The dazzling performance of teenage sensation Gilberto Mora, who once again proved he could be one of Mexico’s breakout stars on the global stage.

Luis Romo also impressed with a commanding all-round performance, while Brian Gutierrez added a crucial goal as Mexico looked sharper and more balanced throughout the contest.

Gilberto Mora Continues To Shine

At just 17 years old, Gilberto Mora is already forcing his way into the conversation for a starting spot at the World Cup. Every time the young playmaker touched the ball, Mexico looked dangerous, creative and unpredictable.

His confidence, movement and technical quality caused constant problems for Ghana’s defence, and fans inside the stadium quickly rose to appreciate the teenager’s fearless display.

If Mora continues this form, Javier Aguirre may have no choice but to trust the youngster when the World Cup begins.

Luis Romo Delivers Leadership And Quality

Luis Romo showed exactly why he remains one of the most important figures in the Mexican squad. Operating both in defence and midfield during the match, he brought composure, aggression and intelligence to El Tri’s setup.

Romo capped off his excellent performance with an assist for Mexico’s second goal and looked comfortable throughout the game. His versatility could become extremely valuable during the World Cup campaign.
