William Osula delivered a dramatic late blow to Manchester United — and fans were quick to remind the Red Devils of what might have been.

After the Danish striker’s match-winning goal for Newcastle United, supporters uncovered a 12-year-old social media post showing a young Osula visiting Old Trafford and posing with club legends.

The resurfaced post has since gone viral, with many Newcastle fans joking that United “let their future tormentor slip away.”

A Goal That Stunned Old Trafford Rivals

Osula’s moment of magic came deep into stoppage time at St James’ Park.

Despite Newcastle playing with 10 men following the earlier dismissal of Jacob Ramsey, the 22-year-old forward seized his chance after being introduced late in the match.

Chasing a ball down the right flank, Osula kept it in play, cut inside onto his left foot, executed a quick stepover and curled a brilliant shot past goalkeeper Senne Lammens to spark wild celebrations.

The stunning strike handed Newcastle a famous victory and ended United’s unbeaten run under interim boss Michael Carrick.

Ironically, Osula once had a close link with Manchester United.

At the age of 11, he visited Old Trafford after competing in the MU Soccer Schools World Skills Final, where he was recognised for his talent.

During the event, the youngster was presented with a celebratory shield by club legends Bryan Robson and Gary Pallister.

Fans quickly resurfaced images from that day, highlighting how United could have signed him years before he returned to punish them.

Osula’s Journey to Newcastle

Born in Copenhagen, Osula moved to England in 2018 to join Sheffield United.

After progressing through the Blades’ youth system, Newcastle secured his services in a deal worth £10 million in 2024.

Although opportunities have been limited due to competition from players like Alexander Isak and Nick Woltemade, the Danish forward has continued to show flashes of match-winning ability.

“The Best Feeling Ever”

Speaking after the game, Osula described his late winner as the highlight of his career so far.

“That was the best feeling ever. I was so happy for that. When I came on I just prayed that I was going to score and make something happen — and thank God it happened.”

He also revealed the finish was something he had been practicing in training the day before.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe praised his players for their resilience after going down to 10 men.

“We’ve started the game really well and then we get a red card. That could have been easy for the lads to feel sorry for themselves. Instead they stood up and believed we could win.”
