Chaos On The Court As Pistons Defeat Hornets In Fiery NBA Brawl

What was meant to be a routine NBA regular-season matchup quickly spiralled into chaos as the Detroit Pistons edged the Charlotte Hornets 110-104 in a bad-tempered encounter that saw four players ejected and emotions boiling over on both sides.

How The Brawl Started

The flashpoint came in the third quarter when Detroit center Jalen Duren was fouled aggressively by Charlotte’s Moussa Diabate. The hard contact quickly escalated into a face-to-face confrontation, with both players appearing to butt heads as tempers flared.

Diabate had to be restrained as he attempted to swing at Duren, but the situation rapidly drew in more players from both teams.

Multiple Players Ejected After On-Court Fight

As the scuffle intensified, Detroit forward Isaiah Stewart confronted Hornets star Miles Bridges, putting him in a headlock and appearing to throw several punches. The altercation lasted roughly 30 seconds and became so heated that a brief police presence was required on the court to help restore order.

Following an official review, Moussa Diabate, Jalen Duren, Isaiah Stewart, and Miles Bridges were all ejected for engaging in fighting during a dead ball.

Lead official John Goble confirmed the decision in the post-game report, stating that the ejections were mandatory under league rules once fighting fouls were assessed.

Coaches Lose Their Cool Too

The drama did not end with the players.

Hornets head coach Charles Lee was ejected in the fourth quarter after angrily disputing a call and having to be physically restrained while shouting at officials. Speaking after the game, Lee admitted he needed to manage his emotions better.

“I’ve got to have a little bit better emotional control in that moment,” he said.

Reflecting on the initial clash, Lee added that the situation escalated quickly after a heated exchange between Diabate and Duren.

Players React After The Dust Settles

Duren downplayed the incident afterward, framing it as a result of competitive intensity.

“Emotions were flaring. At the end of the day, we would love to keep it basketball, but things happen,” he said.
“Everybody was just playing hard.”

Miles Bridges later issued an apology to fans and the Hornets organization via Instagram, stressing his commitment to protecting his teammates.

Curry Injury Adds To A Dramatic NBA Weekend

Elsewhere around the league, Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry has been ruled out of Sunday’s All-Star Game due to a right knee injury. The Warriors remain optimistic that he will return after the All-Star break, with a possible comeback scheduled for February 19 against the Boston Celtics.
